What ist TextPracht?

TextPracht is a free software that has been designed to aid people with deficits in their visual or motoric abilities. It allows the user to control the PC with only three different keys (space bar and both mouse buttons) in order to read texts on their computer screens. The way the texts are presented and the degree to which the input is delayed can be easily adjusted by the users according to their personal needs.

TextPracht has been originally designed for a person who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. It has been re-designed to become individually adjustable so that other people can also benefit from it. The German version has been released on the internet in January 2004 and has already proven useful to many different people with visual or motor impairments. It has now been translated into English so that even more people can benefit from it.

The person the software was originally designed for has regained the possibility to read which improved his life tremendously. So if you know anyone with similar problems TextPracht might be worth a look. It's completely free and quick & easy to install (simply download and unpack the files).

How to import new texts into TextPracht

Making new texts available to the user is easy:

Simply convert the text into *.txt-format (e.g. using the Windows-Editor) and save it into the subdirectory of TextPracht named "Texts". Finished!

TextPracht offers:

• easy choice of different texts from a library *
• easy text scrolling and the ability to set und find bookmarks
• adjustable delay times and programm speed
• adjustable text properties
• easy import of new texts *

* New texts are made availiable to the user by saving files to a subdirectory of the programm. The user can then scroll through the library of available texts using the simplified programm controll.
